Chief ConductorArie van Beek
Born in Rotterdam and a percussionist before becoming a conductor, Arie van Beek is the new Music Director of the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie. For the 2025/26 season, this position will be joined by that of Conductor in Residence at the Orchestre National de Cannes. He was previously Music Director of the Orchestre National d'Auvergne (1994-2010), of the Orchestre de Picardie (2011-2022) and of the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève (2013-2022). He also was, from the age of 19 and during 48 years, conductor, teacher and concert programmer at Codarts - Rotterdam Higher Conservatory of Music as well as permanent conductor of the Doelen Ensemble in Rotterdam. He is guest with various symphony orchestras throughout Europe, conducting a wide repertory starting from the baroque time through music of living composers. Arie van Beek is Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of the French Republic. He has also been awarded the Médaille of the City of Clermont-Ferrand, the Elly Ameling-Prize in regognition for his contribution to the artistic accomplishment of the City of Rotterdam as well as, in 2014, the Erasmus Prize of the city of Rotterdam.
